A remarkable career defined by innovation and impact

After four decades of shaping the future of portion cutting, Borncut’s co-founder and chief engineer, Gorm Sørensen, is retiring. His last working day will be October 31, 2025, marking 40 years in the food-processing industry and nearly a decade at Borncut.

Borncut will host a private farewell for Gorm together with his colleagues, family and close partners to mark this milestone and celebrate his remarkable contribution to the company and the industry.

A lifelong passion for precision engineering

Gorm began his journey in 1985 at Maskinfabrikken NORFO on Bornholm, designing machines for the food industry. His fascination with precision cutting quickly became a lifelong pursuit that would change the way fish, poultry and meat are portioned worldwide.

Over the years, he helped develop and refine systems that improved yield, reduced waste and set new industry standards for cutting accuracy. His combination of practical problem-solving and technical ingenuity earned him deep respect across the industry.

From the first portion cutter to modern innovation

Among the many highlights of Gorm’s career is his role in creating the world’s first portion cutter, built on Bornholm and now part of local industrial history. The same spirit of innovation led him, decades later, to co-found Borncut A/S, a company built on experience, teamwork and the drive to push precision cutting even further.

Under Gorm’s leadership, Borncut developed groundbreaking machines such as the BC225 and BC300 Series, which have become industry benchmarks for speed, yield and cutting precision.

The legacy continues

As Gorm looks toward new adventures, he does so surrounded by colleagues who have worked alongside him for years and share his deep-rooted passion for engineering excellence. Known for his relentless pursuit of better solutions and his sharp technical insight, he has left a lasting mark on Borncut’s development and the industry as a whole.
